Kristopher Taylor is entering his eighth season as founder and artistic director of Ancora Chorale, which continues to focus on revitalizing the Independence arts community with accessible and moving musical experiences. He is an active clinician and guest conductor, and his reputation for unique and nuanced interpretations of the choral repertoire is becoming an increasingly prominent force in American choral music. Kristopher was educated at Brigham Young University, UMKC Conservatory of Music, and The Florida State University. He is a nationally recognized champion of the choral folk genre and an active composer, holding memberships in ASCAP, MCDA, and the American Choral Directors Association. He is in his third year of service as choir director of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Independence.
Under Kristopher's tutelage, Ancora Chorale has recorded two commercially distributed albums: Blessed Assurance (2015), an American Heritage Award finalist; and William Byrd's Mass for Five Voices (Spring 2018), which will be the first recording of Byrd's work by a twenty-four voice, American chamber choir. Ancora plans to record a third album, featuring new American folk music, in 2019.
